I refer to allegations made by Animal Angels, that cruelty to sheep occurred during the unloading of two crates of sheep from a transport truck (registration 1STB 284/1STB 480), involving the use of a short handled electrical shock prodder on the head of sheep to move them on, and I ask, what is the progress of this complaint lodged with the Animal Welfare Unit Inspectorate on 26 October 2010?

A number of outstanding investigations were transferred to the Department of Agriculture and Food WA with the transfer of responsibility of the Animal Welfare Act 2002. One of these was a complaint lodged by Animal Angels on 26 October 2010 as detailed in the question. The Department of Agriculture and Food WA has completed the initial investigation into this reported complaint and is currently awaiting further legal advice from the State Solicitors Office.
