I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question. The minister has provided the following response - (1) Yes, I did receive the letter, to which a reply was sent explaining the confidential nature of this information, as well as the internal processes for such concerns to be raised by an employee of the health system. (2) Yes, I support this individual’s work and that of all health care staff who are engaged in this challenging arena. (3) Yes, I was present at and enjoyed this event. (4) I am advised that a meeting was arranged at the individual’s request during her leave to discuss the future structure of chronic disease management in the South Metropolitan Area Health Service. At this meeting it was confirmed that the current occupant’s contribution to this point in getting the model commissioned was greatly appreciated and that the secondment would continue to October 2006. This is a temporary position for the commissioning of a new program in chronic disease management, and the current occupant is on secondment to this position from her substantive position in population health within the area health service. (5) The South Metropolitan Area Health Service has neither received any complaints nor had any grievances raised regarding this secondment. (6) A response has been forwarded to Ms Mazzuchelli today.
