The Minister for Industry and Enterprise has been provided with the following response:
The former Chair of the Technology and Industry Advisory Council (TIAC) advised me in writing in April this year of his intention to resign. And I quote,
" As soon as the task of identifying and having Cabinet approve any new members, in say three months, I will resign from my position as Chair of TIAC." There was no specific reason given.
The former Chair of the Information Communication Technologies, (ICT) Forum formally offered his resignation to me in an email in March and I quote,
"I write to formally advise you that I wish to retire from my post as Chairman of the ICT Forum on 30 April 2007.
I have accepted several professional commitments which will require me to do a good deal of both interstate and overseas travel in the next 12-18 months, some of it at fairly short notice.
My second term as Chairman expires on June 30
th
and as I will be away for several periods in May and June it makes good sense in the interests of the Forum for a replacement to be identified and in place as soon as possible.
I have greatly enjoyed my experience as Chairman of the Forum and I regard the group as one of the very best advisory bodies I have served on."
