PROPOSED LEGISLATION
1237. Hon TJORN SIBMA to the Minister for Environment:
I refer to suggestions of new
legislation concerning reforms to environmental and other regulations,
colloquially referred to as the ''Streamline Bill 2020''.
(1) Does such a bill exist; and, if
so, what is its title?
(2) Which of the
minister's departments carries responsibility for managing the bill?
(3) If a decision
has been taken to ''split the bill'', which other department and
minister bears responsibility for its carriage, and what is that bill called?
(4) What are the objects of the
bill or bills?
(5) What is the
status of the bill or bills; when was drafting approved by cabinet; and has
permission to print been granted?
(6) Will the
government seek to introduce this bill or these bills before the election?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1)–(6) As the honourable member would be aware,
consideration of the details of legislation is a matter for cabinet . Once
any legislation is agreed to by cabinet, it is introduced into the Parliament.
