I refer to a function held by the Australian Hotels Association on 7 December 2010 at the Court Hotel in Northbridge at which there was a presence by State Security police, and I ask:
(a) for what reason were officer(s) attending;
(b) what features of the function required that a government member(s) received said protection;
(c) which person(s) were subject to protection on that occasion; and
(d) please list all instances since 30 June 2010 where Government members of parliament, other than the Premier, received protection by officers from State protection, name those members and the reasons for that protection.

(a-c) No Western Australia Police - State Security Division personnel were providing personal or site security at the Court Hotel on 7 December 2010.
(d) Apart from the Premier, Western Australia Police - State Security Division has not provided any personal protection to any members of parliament since 30 June 2010.
During this period site security has been provided on 45 occasions for events/functions including Consular Corps receptions, Federal campaign launches, State Regional Cabinet Meetings and other functions/events attended by State or Federal members of parliament. When site security is provided the names of persons attending the event/function are not retained by WA Police.
