Public housing—Waitlist
914. Hon Tim Clifford to
the parliamentary secretary representing the
Minister for Housing and Works:
(1) In the 2024–25 financial year, how
many people made an application for public housing?
(2) How many of those applicants went on to be
added to the public housing waitlist?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question. I provide the following
response on behalf of the Minister for Housing and Works.
(1)–(2) Anyone who fills in a public
housing application and is eligible is added to the public housing waitlist. The
housing options assessment form is not an application for public housing
assistance. It is used to triage clients seeking housing or other assistance
and advise them of assistance options they may be eligible for based on their
current circumstances. In the 2024–25 financial year, 8,970 applications
for public housing assistance were received statewide, with 8,208 added to the
public housing waitlist.
