I thank the honourable member for some notice of this question. In 2004, 501 new graduate teachers were employed in primary schools; in 2005, there were 575; and in 2006, there were 624. In 2004, 307 new graduate teachers were employed in secondary schools; in 2005, there were 318; and in 2006, there were 391. These figures do not account for special education graduate teachers, of which there were 42 in 2004, 55 in 2005 and 57 in 2006. The total number of graduates for each year is 850 in 2004, 948 in 2005, and 1 072 in 2006.
