Planning—Urban tree canopy
177. Hon Neil Thomson to the Leader of the House representing the Minister for Planning
and Lands:
I refer to the Labor
Party's commitment to double tree canopy in the metropolitan area by 2040.
(1) Does the minister know what the tree canopy in
the Perth metropolitan area is currently, and, if yes, what is it and what was
the date of this measure?
(2) How many trees has this government removed in
the Perth metropolitan area since the polyphagous shot-hole borer program
commenced? Please provide by month.
(3) How many $150 "treebates" have been
applied for so far?
(4) For (3), How many tree plantings does this
represent?

I thank the honourable
member for some notice of the question and provide this answer on behalf of the
Minister for Planning and Lands.
(1) Please refer to Legislative Council question
without notice 1118.
(2)–(4) The honourable member should
redirect those questions to the relevant ministers. If I can be helpful, the
Minister for Environment has responsibility for "treebates" and the Minister
for Agriculture and Food is the minister responsible for polyphagous shot-hole
borer.
