❓ Mr. Logan questions the Minister for Water regarding a new water resource management and planning charge (a 'water tax') and seeks assurance it will be dropped, particularly for farming families. The Minister's response is non-committal, stating no budget allocation for the current year but a possibility in future years depending on legislation.

STATE BUDGET 2012–13 — WATER
RESOURCE MANAGEMENT AND PLANNING CHARGE
278. Mr F.M. LOGAN to the Minister for Water:
I ask a supplementary question. Will the minister give an
assurance to the house and to the farming families of WA that he will direct
the Department of Water to drop this new water tax and not proceed with this
application to water licence holders? They need that assurance.

As I said, the budget for 2012–13
has no money allocated for that. In the out years there is a possibility. That
will depend on our legislative program in the next few years.
