The Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) advises:
(1) The approved funding of $4.7 million is for the recruitment of resources required to support 16 identified local governments in the development of Bushfire Risk Management Plans and does not address funding requirements beyond 30 June 2016.
(2) The Bushfire Risk Management Plans are intended to be a tenure blind assessment of risk in the 16 Local Government areas identified as having high risk and low capacity.
(3) Bushfire Risk Management Plans will help inform future budget proposals for Government agencies to address risk mitigation activities.
