HOUSING — BENTLEY 360 PROJECT
760. Dr D.J. HONEY to the Minister for Housing:
I have a supplementary question. Why
can the minister fast-track construction activity in the western suburbs but is
completely unable to manage this critical state project that could have
significantly helped ease our current housing crisis?

This
is an extraordinary situation. That second question demonstrates the point that
I was making—that the member for Cottesloe has an absolute and
clear failure to understand basic housing economics. He does not understand and
he does not engage.
Dr D.J. Honey : Four years!
Mr
J.N. CAREY : The member for
Cottesloe, who is prepared to lecture everyone else, failed to listen to
industry —builders who work in the sector—about current
market conditions. After seven years, this opposition does not have one housing policy solution. In fact, the only
policy solution that side has, championed by the member for Cottesloe ,
is more red tape for housing approvals.
Dr D.J. Honey interjected.
Mr J.N. CAREY : The Leader of
the Liberal Party says nothing. She is dictated to by Hon Nick Goiran and the
member for Cottesloe.
Ms L. Mettam interjected.
Mr J.N. CAREY : We get zero
from the Leader of the Liberal Party—nothing!
Ms L. Mettam : Social housing
has gone backwards!
Mr J.N. CAREY : That clearly
hit a little nerve. The member for Vasse yelled repeatedly. She is a little bit
aware that she has been completely silent on housing and planning policies.
What is very evident is that the policy of that side is dictated by a member
for Cottesloe who is anti–social housing, is anti–affordable
housing and wants more red tape for housing approvals.
The SPEAKER : That concludes
question time.
