North West Zone 5,199,149 6,216,633

An increase is recorded from 2001/2002 to 2002/2003 due to the delegation and budget allocation to cover the leave liability.
(5) The Department maintains records of individual clients when delivering casework and short term intervention services such as financial assistance. In addition to these contacts, the Department also has many short contacts with the public via phone, letter, facsimile or face to face interview where a record is kept of the contact but client identifying information is not always recorded. Prior to September 2001, some casework contacts were also recorded on the short term contact system whilst the initial assessment was being made.
Additionally, data in 2001-2002 and 2002-2003 was collected by the previous Zone structure and is thus not comparable with the new District structure. Figures for these years have been provided under the old structure.
