I refer to the State of Cockburn Sound Report 2014 and ask in respect to the Report's statement that: Seafood sampled from around commercial mussel growing areas met the aquaculture guidelines without exception, although the number of parameters for which data was available was limited and ask: (a) has the Minister asked the Cockburn Sound Management Council to expand the scope of sampling in and around mussel growing areas to ensure there is adequate data?

(a) Monitoring around the commercial mussel growing areas is consistent with the requirements of the Western Australia Shellfish Quality Assurance Program.
I recently approved an update to the Terms of Reference for the Cockburn Sound Management Council and Cabinet endorsed the appointment of new members to the Council from 1 January 2016.
Under its Terms of Reference, the Council is responsible for the oversight and coordination of environmental monitoring and research/investigative studies in Cockburn Sound.
Consistent with its Terms of Reference, the Council will provide me with recommendations in the event that it considers that the scope of sampling in and around mussel growing areas should be expanded.
