(1) Yes.
(2) Not applicable.
(3) The key issue for the sector is the high level of energy consumption associated with maintaining stringent environmental controls in the buildings that house the State's collections and performing arts venues.
(4a) The Department is assessing options for retro-fitting existing building stock with technologies that reduce energy and water consumption.
(b) The option of a central, more energy efficient, plant for the buildings and the Perth Cultural Centre will be assessed.
(c) Building location and design and its impact on energy consumption are being addressed pro-actively in the planning and design phases of proposed buildings. In addition, vehicle fleets have been reduced, water wise initiatives introduced, recycling options introduced into public spaces and reporting of energy and water consumption to relevant authorities is ongoing.
(5a) To date, $145,000 has been expended.
(b) In addition to the work from the consultants, staff from across the culture and arts portfolio and from Building Management and Works have been working on this. Approximately 0.5FTE were allocated in 2010.
(c) Work commenced with the bench-marking of existing energy usage profiles and assessment of current air-conditioning plant and equipment. The feasibility of replacement options will be tested against this baseline data.
(6) No - The assessment of options has not been concluded.
(7) When the assessment of the options has been finalised recommendations will be presented to government.
(8a-b) Not applicable.
