Sex offenders—Chemical castration
625. Hon Maryka Groenewald to the parliamentary
secretary representing the Attorney General:
I refer to the
practice of chemical castration for convicted sex offenders in Western
Australia.
(1) What substances are authorised for use in the
chemical castration of sex offenders?
(2) Are any of those drugs also used in Western
Australia to treat minors with gender dysphoria?

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question.
(1) A court may in certain circumstances order an
offender to comply with a medication regime. The specific medication that an
offender may be required to take is a matter for Corrective Services officers
in consultation with medical practitioners.
(2) This question falls outside the Attorney
General's portfolio.
