I refer to question on notice 1185 to the Minister for Environment and question on notice 1157 to the Minister for Energy representing the Minister for Heritage pertaining to World Heritage listing for the Dampier Archipelago. (1) Will the state carry out an assessment of the Dampier Archipelago area’s values against the criteria contained in the “Operational Guidelines for the Implementation of the World Heritage Convention”? (2) If no to (1), why not? (3) If yes to (1), when will this be conducted? (4) If yes to (1), what public participation will be included in this process? Hon DONNA FARAGHER

(1)-(2) The state has not undertaken an assessment of the Dampier Archipelago’s values against the criteria contained in the “Operational Guidelines for the Implementation of the World Heritage Convention”. The state’s priority at this stage is to put in place an effective management arrangement for the Dampier Archipelago with the parties to the Burrup and Maitland Industrial Estates Agreement.
