I refer to a letter dated April 13 1992 from the Department of Mines Western Australia reference MF 6700/91 titled ‘Application for Exploration Licence 27/85 at Kalpini’ -
(1) Can the Minister give the tenement numbers and the amount of times that ‘severance of an application’ including Prospecting Licences, exploration Licences and Mining Leases had been ‘refused in the past’?
(2) If not, why not?
(3) Is it correct that the department stated in the letter ‘Regarding your client’s position for Exploration Licence 27/85, it is severed into two sections by an existing tenement which was granted prior to this application being lodged. As stated above, the Minister has previously refused applications in these circumstances, thereby establishing a precedent’?
(4) If not, can the Minister explain what was stated in the letter?

(1) No. (2) Records of applications for Mining Tenements refused as a result of severance are not maintained. (3) Apart from the word 'position' which should read 'application' the rest of the statement is correct. (4) Not applicable.
