Thank you, member, for the
question.
(1)–(2) As
the member would know, the Environmental Protection Authority is an independent
statutory body and makes determinations largely around environmental issues,
and I respect that process. The EPA has made a determination, but the
government is yet to make its decision—and indeed I am yet to make a decision.
I will consider the EPA's recommendation, but I will also consider the
wider implications, as the member has expressed. I am aware of the views of the
local community and the local government and of some of the aspirations for
tourism and other quality-of-life issues in the area, and I will pay due
consideration to those.
