CPD GROUP PTY LTD — INSOLVENCY
415. Ms R. SAFFIOTI to the Minister for
Finance:
I have a supplementary question.
Given that it is three years since the report was finalised, can the minister
really stand by a system that allows subcontractors, including small family
businesses, losing hundreds of thousands of dollars from government projects?

It is a problem that when a contractor
tenders on a job and is deemed to be solvent and has the capability to deliver
the project, if they engage subcontractors, there is no relationship with the
government. We are looking at ways to see if we can protect those people
because it is very important that we protect those people.
