968. Hon Ed Dermer to the Parliamentary Secretary representing the Minister for Education:
I refer to the software being provided to support teachers in the implementation of the Student Outcomes initiative and ask -
(1) Is the Education Department officer responsible for the provision of Information Technology satisfied that this software is the most technologically appropriate for the provision of this support to teachers?
(2) Is this officer satisfied that the OMNIS language is the most technologically appropriate language for the software to be used for the provision of this support?

1. Yes.
2. Yes. However, as future strategies are formulated with respect to the overall architecture of technical systems in use within the Education Department, the software company has already expressed a desire to work with the Department to ensure that their product is consistent with the Department's future directions.
