1) The Bunbury Acute Psychiatric Unit (APU) has 2 full time Consultant Psychiatrists and 2 full time Medical Officers in psychiatry that work from 8:30am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday. All admissions (all age groups) are under the duty of care of the inpatient consultant psychiatrists. When a person under 18 years is admitted to the inpatient APU, they are under the duty of care of the inpatient consultant psychiatrists, with shared care support from the South West Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) Psychiatrist.
After hours (4:30pm to 8:30am), a CAMHS admission to the inpatient unit, when required, is authorised by the on-call consultant psychiatrist. The Specialist CAMHS Consultant Psychiatrist is on the On-Call Consultant Psychiatrist Roster.
2) Total number of children and adolescents admitted to the Bunbury APU and seen by the Child Psychiatrist in 2010-2011 was 0; in 2011-2012, there were 3; and in 2012-30 Sept 2012, there have been 4.
3) Nil. All South West CAMHS referrals to the Specialist Child Psychiatrist are assessed by the Specialist Child Psychiatrist.
4) If a South West CAMHS patient is admitted to the inpatient unit, they are assessed by the Specialist Child Psychiatrist within the first 24 hours of admission. Prior to this, they are assessed by the admitting doctor.
