(1) When will construction of the
Marlamanu on-country diversionary facility become operational?
(2) What is the anticipated cost of
the facility?

I thank the member for some notice
of the question. The following answer has been provided to me by the Minister
for Regional Development and is accurate as of Wednesday, 13 March.
(1) Construction
is anticipated to commence in April 2024, with an estimated total build period
of six months from commencement.
(2) The current
budget allocation is based on total capital expenditure of $8.1 million on the
facility. The infrastructure budget is being
confirmed by a quantity surveyor report prior to infrastructure cost
finalisation.
