(1) Is the Minister aware of an incident that occurred on Rottnest Island on 25 October 2011 where a resident of Rottnest Island was allegedly assaulted by what is believed to be a group of people who were invited guests of the Rottnest Island Authority; and
(a) if yes, what action has been taken by the Rottnest Island Authority to ensure that this group of people have been properly dealt with through legal means;
(b) if no, will the Minister investigate the matter, and
if not, why not?
(2) Is the Minister aware that on 25 October 2011 a group of Rottnest Island Authority guests allegedly harassed and threatened other residents and guests and damaged property belonging to the Rottnest Lodge; and
(a) if yes, what action has been taken by the Rottnest Island Authority to recoup the costs of any alleged damage caused by their guests; and
(b) if no, who is incurring the costs of repairing any damage allegedly caused by the Rottnest Island Authority guests?
(3) If the Rottnest Island Authority has not recouped the cost from the alleged perpetrators has the Minister investigated the matter further, and if so, what is the outcome?
(a) if yes, what action has been taken by the Rottnest Island Authority to ensure that this group of people have been properly dealt with through legal means;

(1) Yes. An incident occurred on Rottnest Island on 25 October 2011 where a resident of Rottnest Island was allegedly assaulted by persons who were members of a group of people who were booked into Rottnest Island accommodation.
(a) The WA Police Service is responsible for investigating the alleged offence and charging the people involved if appropriate.
(b) Not applicable.
(2) Yes, I am aware of the allegation.
(a) The Rottnest Lodge lessee has not reported any property damage to the RIA or submitted an insurance claim.
(b) Not applicable.
(3) The alleged assault offence is still under investigation by the WA Police Service. The RIA has not sought to recover damage costs as no damage has been reported by the Rottnest Lodge.
