I was concerned to hear the Member say that people are going to be made homeless by the Abbott Government.
The Department of Commerce had been monitoring the Palm Beach Caravan Park since 2010 when it was first mooted for sale.
Also discussions between the developer and the owner had commenced some time prior to September 2013, which was before the Federal election.
I met recently with the City of Rockingham and the Mayor and CEO were very pleased with the Government's response to the sale of the park.
The Department of Housing advises:
(a) Yes
(b) Thirty-two residents have been registered as applicants for public housing on the priority
waiting list.
(c) Yes
(d) Meetings with residents earlier this year, walk-through visits to the park and on 14 June 2014 with the new owner, Defence Housing Australia.
(e) The Department is maintaining contact with affected residents to provide support and advice.
Eligible residents will be listed for priority public housing assistance.
