626. Hon JAMES HAYWARD to the minister representing the
Minister for Health:
I refer to midwives at King Edward
Memorial Hospital for Women.
(1) How many midwives have been
recruited at KEMH since June 2021?
(2) What is the total number of
approved FTE midwives at KEMH?
(3) What is the total number of
actual FTE midwives at KEMH?
(4) How many midwifery positions at
KEMH remain unfilled?

On behalf of the minister
representing the Minister for Health, I thank the honourable member for some
notice of the question.
(1) Five midwives have been recruited, plus 14
graduate midwives commenced; they were recruited prior to June.
(2) The total number is 384 FTE.
(3) The total number is 364 FTE.
(4) Twenty
positions remain unfilled. There has been an increase of 87 FTE midwives in WA
Health since March 2017. The previous Liberal–National government saw a
decrease of 58 FTE midwives in its final year of government.
