I thank the honourable member for some notice of the
question.
(1) The
savings measures announced by the government apply to all general government
agency advertising during the period from 17 April to 30 June 2014.
(2)–(3)
All pre-existing media bookings confirmed by the government communications unit
of the Department of the Premier and Cabinet with common-use arrangement
contractors prior to 17 April 2014 are approved to proceed. Agencies seeking
approval for government campaign and non–campaign related advertising
during the period 17 April to 30 June 2014 that has not been approved are able
to seek approval from the Treasurer, with the support of their minister. To
date, no approvals have been granted for new advertising.
(4) The chief
executive officer of Tourism WA has recently written to the Department of the
Premier and Cabinet seeking clarification with regard to the process for
advertising during the period.
(5) No formal
application for approval to proceed during the period 17 April to 30 June 2014
has been received.
