I thank the member for some notice of this question. (1) Transperth operates a limited direct service between Ellenbrook and Midland on weekdays only. This service, which is route 335, is predominantly designed to meet the needs of school students who attend a range of schools in the Midland area. There are no interpeak weekday or weekend services between Ellenbrook and Midland because of the limited residential development and therefore limited patronage potential for services operating through this corridor along West Swan Road. Transperth has conducted community consultation at Ellenbrook on numerous occasions and has also analysed letters and website comments from residents. The analysis shows that Ellenbrook residents have indicated that their first priority is for a strong public transport connection from Ellenbrook to Morley. The second strongest priority for residents is being able to connect from Ellenbrook to the Bassendean train station in the peak period to access the Perth CBD. The third priority is to provide access to Midland. (2) Until residential development through the corridor between Ellenbrook and Midland intensifies, any investment in bus services will be focused on providing services between Ellenbrook and the Bassendean train station. From Bassendean, passengers can transfer to train services travelling to Midland or Perth, or to bus services travelling through to Morley.
