(1) Protection screens compliant with Vehicle Standards (Australian Design Rules) 2006 are currently being added to taxi vehicle specifications as non-mandatory taxi equipment (for approved vehicles only).
(2) Once added to the taxi vehicle specifications as non-mandatory equipment, taxi owners will be able to install compliant safety screens on a voluntary basis.
Taxi owners opting to install compliant safety screens will be responsible for the cost of the screen and its installation.
