POINCIANA LODGE
286. Mr V.A. CATANIA to the Treasurer:
I have a supplementary question.
Will the Treasurer reinstate the $5 million that he has taken out of high-end
aged care or make our seniors wait until the budget is handed down?

AnswerView source ↗

I look forward to my visit to
Carnarvon. I do not know whether the member will be there because I know he lives
in Mt Claremont. He might be close; I am not really sure. As I said, I look
forward to my visit to Carnarvon pointing out to locals how important their
local member is.
Point of Order
Dr D.J.
HONEY : My understanding is that members are not to refer to a member's
address.
The SPEAKER : No; there is no
standing order like that.
Questions without Notice
Resumed
Mr B.S. WYATT : Wake up, old
fella. Mt Claremont is where he lives. I look forward to pointing out that the
member who represents Carnarvon —
Several members interjected.
The SPEAKER : Treasurer, it
would probably be better if you did not mention where people live.
Mr B.S. WYATT : I have not.
The SPEAKER : You did, in an
area. You have to remember that people have lives outside Parliament where
difficult things might happen.
Several members interjected.
The SPEAKER : Members! I do
not care what people did before; I am talking about what is happening now.
Point of Order
Mr W.R.
MARMION : The member for Victoria Park referred to the member for
Cottesloe as an ''old fella''. I think it is unparliamentary.
Several members interjected.
The SPEAKER : As I am
probably the oldest person in the chamber, I would think that was a compliment!
Member, you will call people by their electorate.
Questions without Notice Resumed
Mr B.S. WYATT : I thought
where we lived was a matter of public record because we all have to declare
that when we stand for Parliament. I am sure you are aware of that as well, Mr
Speaker. The issue is —
Mr V.A. Catania interjected.
The SPEAKER : Member, you
have got your point across; you have a supplementary.
Mr B.S. WYATT : There is no
question that the member who has not really lived in the Pilbara at any point
or the midwest during his time representing that area has always lived,
normally, in my electorate of Victoria Park —
Mr V.A. Catania : You're
a fool!
Mr B.S. WYATT : But in any
event, the people of Carnarvon have been poorly represented —
Withdrawal of Remark
The SPEAKER : Member for
North West Central, I call you to order and ask you to withdraw.
Mr B.S. WYATT : — for
a long time and I look forward to catching up with the member's
constituents.
The SPEAKER : Treasurer, sit
down. Calm down.
Withdraw, member for North West Central.
Mr V.A. CATANIA : I withdraw.
Questions without Notice Resumed
The SPEAKER : Have you
finished, Treasurer?
Mr B.S. WYATT : No, Mr
Speaker. I want to make the point that with the member who allegedly represents
the people of Carnarvon, they have been poorly represented; I agree.
Mr V.A. Catania interjected.
The SPEAKER : I call you to
order for the third time.
Mr B.S. WYATT : I look forward
to visiting Carnarvon and pointing out to people how appalling their local
member is and how, generally, he is not a man to be trusted.
