LORD MAYOR OF PERTH —
CORRUPTION AND CRIME COMMISSION REPORT
672. Mr D.A. TEMPLEMAN to the Minister
for Local Government:
I refer to the Corruption and Crime
Commission's report into Perth Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi that was
released almost a year ago.
(1) Has the
minister requested from the State Administrative Tribunal when a final
resolution to this saga is likely; and, if not, why not?
(2) Why has the
saga, which has damaged the reputation of the office of the Lord Mayor and the
City of Perth, not been resolved considering that the Premier stated in
February this year that he expected a quick resolution to this issue?

(1)–(2) I thank the member for the question. The member
is correct. In about October last year, the Corruption and Crime Commission
handed down a report to me as the Minister for Local Government with the words
that I could take it through the Local Government Act. Since that time the
director general of the Department of Local Government and Communities has
instructed the State Solicitor's Office to take care of this case—so
at the moment it is in the hands of the State Administrative Tribunal. It will
be listed when it is time for it to come up for hearing. Regarding the timing,
it is out of my hands. I do not have any input into this process.
Mr
D.A. Templeman interjected.
Mr
A.J. SIMPSON : All I know from the updates that I receive —

Mr
A.J. SIMPSON : It is in the hands of the State Administrative Tribunal. That
is where it should be. It is going through the process.

A.J. SIMPSON : If the member wants to ask a question about it, he should
talk to the State Administrative Tribunal.
