The Western Australia Police Service advise:
(1) The South Metropolitan District’s authorised strength as at 31 May 2003, was 386, which included 6 Aboriginal Police Liaison Officers.
(2) 374 as at 31 May 2003
(3) The South Metropolitan District’s authorised strength as at 31 January 2001 was 386, which included 6 Aboriginal Police Liaison Officers.
(4) Not applicable
(5 – 6) The Police Service advise that due to operational sensitivities, specific information relating to staffing levels of individual police stations will not be provided. Resources are principally allocated at a District level and District Superintendents deploy these resources within their District to provide the best possible policing service to meet operational requirements and the varying needs of the community. Variations in authorised strength of a station can occur on an almost daily basis due to retirement, resignation, transfer or promotion of officers, and secondment of officers to specialist units within the Districts. Also, authorised station strength does not include specialist units for the District that may be located in the Police Station. As at 31 May 2003, 149 Recruits were undergoing training at the Police Academy and will be allocated to Districts on graduation.
