HEALTH — VAPING
INDUSTRY REGULATION
753. Hon Dr BRIAN WALKER to the parliamentary secretary
representing the Minister for Health:
I was grateful for the minister's
answer to my question 564 of 16 June 2022, in which she reassured me that no
impacts were anticipated in relation to the vaping of properly prescribed
medicinal cannabis products as a result of
the government's changes to vaping laws here in Western Australia, but
faced with patients who are now reporting otherwise, I have to ask —
(1) Is the
minister aware of reports that Australian Border Force is now seizing dry herb
vapes from overseas, to the detriment of patients looking to utilise them to
administer their prescription medication?
(2) What is the
government's concern around the import of these dry herb vapes, which
by their very nature cannot be used to vape liquid nicotine?
(3) Acknowledging
that this issue straddles both state and federal law, and that border control
is a federal issue, will the minister lobby her federal colleagues to relax the
current import restrictions, so as not to make a liar of her in regard to the
reassurances she gave me two years ago?
