For each Government department or agency under the Minister’s control, including the ministerial office, I ask whether media monitoring services are provided; and
(a) if yes, which firm or firms currently provide a media monitoring service;
(b) if yes, what is the cost of the contract/s;
(c) if yes, since 23 September 2008 how much has been paid for media monitoring services;
(d) if yes, what is the duration of the contract(s); and
(e) if yes, when did the contract(s) commence?

Ministerial Office
(a - e) As of 1 January 2010 the Government Media Office ceased to operate in a move to streamline decision making and coordination across portfolios. As part of these changes responsibility for daily Media Monitoring Services for Ministers and some government agencies has been transferred to the Department of Premier and Cabinet.
Office of Energy
The Office of Energy uses a media monitoring service.
(a) Media Monitors.
(b)No signed contract is held. The Office of Energy has a month by month media monitoring arrangement in place.
(c) Between 1 May 2009 and 21 May 2010, the Office of Energy spent $8,748.62 for media monitoring services.
(d) See (b).
(e) Not applicable.
Department of Training and Workforce Development
(a - e) Since the establishment of the Department of Training and Workforce Development on 30 October 2009, the Department has been accessing media monitoring services through the Department of Education. This arrangement will cease on 30 June 2010. The current media monitoring contract was established by the former Department of Education and Training.
