MEDICAL CANNABIS —
OFFICE OF DRUG CONTROL EXPERT WORKING GROUP
1413. Hon Dr BRIAN WALKER to the parliamentary secretary
representing the Minister for Health:
I refer the minister to the
commonwealth Narcotic Drugs Act 1967 and to the Office of Drug Control's
statement on its website that the act ''does not support the cultivation
of medicinal cannabis for personal use.''
(1) What does the
state government understand by the word ''narcotic'' and can the
minister furnish the house with a definition please; and, if not, why not?
(2) Was the WA
Department of Health or the minister consulted in any way prior to the
establishment of the ODC's Medicinal Cannabis Expert Working Group in
March 2024; and, if so, to what extent?
(3) Does the WA
government have any input into or receive feedback from that working group?
