I refer to the Great Northern
Highway from Broome to Derby.
(1) What is the cost or estimated
cost to repair the road?
(2) When will it be completed?
(3) Is it being repaired to the same
standard as it was previously repaired?
(4) If yes to (3), is the minister
confident it is being repaired to withstand another flood?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. I note that this question was asked on 12 February;
the answer was current as of that date.
(1) The estimated
cost to repair the flood damage to Great Northern Highway between Broome and
Derby is $14 million.
(2) The majority
of the flood damage repairs have been completed. There are some minor works
outstanding that will be completed in 2019.
(3) The majority
of the road will be reconstructed back to the same standard, with some sections
widened to an 11-metre pavement width.
(4) The road has been designed to
withstand normal design rainfall events for that region.
