(1) One taskforce is currently in existence.
(2) Under the auspices of the Premier's Science and Innovation Council (PSIC), the Women Engineers and Scientists Taskforce (WEST) currently operates.
(3) The members of WEST are:
Dr Pam Garnett *, Dean of Curriculum, St Hilda's Anglican School for Girls;
Professor Lyn Beazley, Chief Scientist of Western Australia;
Dr Debby Cousins *, Director Application and Linkage, Australian Biosecurity CRC for Emerging Infectious Disease;
Professor Richard Pashley *, ARC Professorial Fellow, Murdoch University;
Ms Deidre Wilmont, Chief of Staff, Office of the Premier;
Ms Janice Lake, Engineers Australia;
Ms Keeley Hayward, General Manager, Human Resources; Chamber of Commerce and Industry of WA:
Ms Sue Murphy, General Manager, Planning and Infrastructure, Water Corporation; and
Ms Sarah Bugg, Executive Project Manager, Scitech.
Note: Members of the above taskforce are only paid if they are existing members of PSIC.  PSIC members as indicated above with an asterisk (*) receive $350 per meeting.
(4) WEST is finalising a report entitled, "Participation of Women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths", which will shape future Council and taskforce activity.

(6) The WEST taskforce research is being undertaken for the Premier's Science and Innovation Council so that the Council can gain an understanding of the current situation of women in science.
