I refer to the Economic Regulation Authority’s (ERA) final report, entitled Inquiry into Microeconomic Reform in Western Australia , specifically to page 66 where the ERA recommend implementing ‘cost-reflective retail electricity tariffs’, and ask: (a) does the Minister fundamentally agree or disagree with the ERAs recommendation; (b) what advice or consultation has the Minister received surrounding cost-reflective tariffs thus far; and (c) has the Minister been approached by any proponents from within the energy sector about this issue?

(a) The full recommendations by the Economic Regulation Authority in respect of electricity tariffs are:
· progress be made towards implementing fully cost-reflective electricity tariffs for households and small businesses; and
· investigate the feasibility of introducing flexible electricity charging schemes such as time of use and critical peak pricing.
The Government is of the view that these recommendations merit further consideration.
(b) Cost-reflective tariffs are reviewed regularly through Budget and other Cabinet processes.
(c) Yes.
