DEPARTMENT
OF EDUCATION — NATIONAL SCHOOL LIBRARY DATABASE
664. Hon AMBER-JADE SANDERSON to the Minister for Education:
I refer to the budget cuts in central office, which will mean
that 15 staff in the E-Schooling—Evaluation and E-Schooling—Cataloguing,
school library support services, will lose their jobs. How will the national
school library database and licensing costs for schools be managed?

I thank the honourable member for some notice of this
question.
This question was actually asked on Thursday, 12 September,
which has some relevance to the response. As at 27 September 2013, public
schools will access the schools catalogue information service directly through
the national body Education Services Australia. The statewide SCIS licence
currently funded by the Department of Education remains unchanged and schools
will continue to be licensed to download catalogue records from SCISWeb.
