I refer the Premier to the Environmental, Social and Economic Review of the Gorgon gas development proposal on Barrow Island, and ask -
(1) Can the Premier indicate whether Government approval for the project, as a result of the Review, would -
(a) provide certainty for the proponent that it can proceed with the development when the proponent is ready;
(b) removed the need for any further environmental assessments in the future that could result in the project being rejected; and
(c) provide certainty that there will be no risk to the project in the future as a result of any further environmental or other approvals required under State laws?
(2) If Government approval for the project, as a result of the ESE Review, does not result in certainty over the project’s final approval to proceed on Barrow Island, can the Premier indicate whether the Government would introduce legislation to allow Parliament to deliver such certainty?
(3) If not, why not?
