I refer to child safety and wellbeing assessments, and I ask, on average in the South West, how many days elapse between a child at risk first being brought to the attention of the Department of Child Protection and Family Support and a safety and wellbeing assessment being commenced?

In 2013-14, the median time to commence a safety and wellbeing assessment in the South West was 1 day.
A safety and wellbeing assessment may not always commence immediately. For example, other information may be required prior to commencement, or the notification may be made prior to the birth of the child.
