The Department of Housing advises:
(a)
From 1 July 2009 to 30 June 2013, the Commonwealth provided $17.08 million of capital investment for homelessness, at an average of $4.27 million per annum.
The Transitional National Partnership Agreement on Homelessness for 2013-14 provided $4.11 million of Commonwealth funding for capital works.
The one year extension of the National Partnership Agreement on Homelessness for 2014-15 did not include funding for capital works.
(b)
Up to October 2014, the National Partnership Agreement on Homelessness had funded 95 dwellings of various types and a total of 2,937 individuals and families had been provided with housing assistance and other support services.
Due to the lack of Commonwealth capital funding for homelessness, the Department did not include any new homelessness projects in its 2014-15 capital works program.
Renewal of Commonwealth funding for capital works under the National Partnership Agreement on Homelessness would enable the Department to provide more houses for homeless Western Australians.
