For each Department and Agency within the Minister’s portfolios:
(a) as at 9 March 2010 how many vehicles are allocated to the department or agency;
(b) what washing arrangements are provided for each vehicle;
(c) if any vehicle is commercially cleaned since 23 September 2008 please provide:
(i) the cost breakdown for each vehicle and cleaning bill;
(ii) how often each vehicle is booked in to be commercially cleaned;
(iii) the address where the vehicle is cleaned; and
(iv) advise whether vehicles are cleaned during office hours;
(d) what detailing arrangements are provided for each vehicle;
(e) if any vehicle is commercially detailed since 23 September 2008 please provide:
(i) the cost breakdown for each vehicle and cleaning bill;
(ii) how often each vehicle is booked in to be commercially cleaned;
(iii) the address where the vehicle is cleaned; and
(iv) advise whether vehicles are detailed during office hours; and
(f) please provide a subtotal of a vehicle’s cleaning costs for each department or agency since 23 September 2008.

(a) The Department for Child Protection has 578 vehicles.
(b) Vehicles under the Government Vehicle Scheme and the Senior Officers Vehicle Scheme are cleaned by the designated drivers.
'Q' Plated vehicles (Western Australiawide) are cleaned by :
- Intework.
- Vehicles also are washed by dealerships upon routine maintenance (free of charge).
- City Motors do safety check and clean vehicles as required.
- Cars that are extremely dirty (vomit, bodily fluids) are cleaned by Car Care Australia and invoiced via SG Fleet.
- Geraldton Car Wash.
- BP Car Wash Fremantle.
- Car Care WA, Welshpool.
- Eco Wash, Belmont.
- John Hughes Service Centre.
- Madwax Carwash, Kalgoorlie.
- BP/Caltex carwash Canington.
(c)
(i) The total costs for vehicle cleaning bills is $16,394
(ii) Normal car wash happens as required. The average for commercial cleaning is twice per annum.
Vehicles also are washed by dealerships upon routine maintenance (free of charge).
Cars that are extremely dirty (vomit, bodily fluids) are cleaned by Car Care Australiaand invoiced via SG Fleet
(iii) There are various locations of where vehicles may be cleaned, such as:
- 25 Duke Street, Albany.
- Active Foundation - Perup Road, Manjimup.
- 25 Amherst Street, Katanning.
- Lucas Street, Broome.
- 14 Archer Street Broome.
- Dee Kays Detailing, Eston Street Narrogin.
- Gibbo's Detailing Northam.
- 8 Leghorn Street, Rockingham.
- Geraldton Car Wash, Lester Ave.
- BP Car Wash Fremantle.
- Car Care WA, Welshpool.
- Eco Wash, Belmont.
- John Hughes Service Centre.
- Madwax Carwash, Kalgoorlie.
- BP/Caltex carwash Cannington.
(iv) Vehicles are cleaned during office hours.
(d) Detailing will only be done if required. If vehicles go off road, or if an incident occurs inside the vehicle with clients, detailing will occur. Commercial cleaning is required when the vehicles transporting children or clients are dirty from vomiting, spillage or bodily fluids. Window cleaning and vacuuming is also required to ensure safe driving and to keep the vehicles hygienic. This cleaning occurs more frequently in the rural areas where dust and wind dirty vehicles more often.
