(1) Can the minister confirm Melville Glades Golf Club’s bore water licence allocation figure? (2) Is Melville Glades Golf Club currently operating within this allocation? (3) If no to (2), what has been done to halt the golf club’s excessive use? (4) Has Melville Glades Golf Club or any other metropolitan golf club submitted water conservation plans as required under the state’s commitment to the state water strategy? (5) If no to (4), why not? (6) If yes to (4), who has submitted the plans? Hon KIM CHANCE

I thank Hon Paul Llewellyn for some notice of the question. (1) The Melville Glades Golf Club holds a bore water licence valid until 26 September 2011, with an allocation of 400 000 kilolitres per annum. (2) To the best of the Department of Water’s knowledge, yes, the Melville Glades Golf Club is currently operating within its licensed allocation. A survey conducted in 2004 showed that the club was underutilising its entitlement. (3) Not applicable. (4) No. The Melville Glades Golf Club has not submitted a water conservation plan. The Department of Water is not aware of any golf clubs within the metropolitan area that are currently working on water conservation plans. (5) As yet, no metropolitan golf clubs have been required to submit a water conservation plan as a condition of their groundwater licence. Golf clubs can be proactive and work towards the development of a water conservation plan with the assistance of the Department of Water. The Department of Water is currently developing a process-template to assist all groups and organisations in developing water conservation plans. (6) Not applicable.
