I refer to the summary on consultants engaged by Government for the six months ended 30 June 1999 tabled recently in Parliament and ask in relation the Native Title consultancy provided by Wanati Pty Ltd costing $66,991 -
(a) what was the nature of this advice;
(b) who are the principals of Wanati Pty Ltd; and
(c) was this amount in addition to the provision of advice from your own office and if so what was the cost of provision of that advice?

The Minister Replied:
(a) Wanati Pty Ltd assisted the Ministry of the Premier and Cabinet with the development of the Native Title (State Provisions) Bill and the Titles Validation Amendment Bill.
(b) John and Irene Clarke.
(c) A number of officers in the Ministry of the Premier and Cabinet were also involved in the preparation of the Bills as part of their duties. Their involvement was covered by the normal budget allocation.
