In relation to the announcement by the minister last week - (1) Has the minister sought Crown Law advice to ensure that granting financial security for timber contracts beyond the life of the forest management plan does not breach, nor is ultra vires of, the Conservation and Land Management Act? (2) If he has not sought such advice, why not? (3) If he has, what aspects of timber companies’ operations would be liable for compensation and under what circumstances? Hon KIM CHANCE
