I refer to recommendation 11 of report 12, of the Standing Committee on Estimates and Financial Operations into the Balga Works Program, where it stated, ‘The Committee by a majority (comprising Hons Giz Watson, Peter Collier, Sheila Mills and Helen Morton MLCs) recommends that the Government reimburse all former employees of the Balga Works Program, who can demonstrate their claims for outstanding wages and superannuation’, and ask -
(1) Have you reimbursed all former employees of the Balga Works Program, who can demonstrate their claims for outstanding wages and superannuation given that the Minister for Training was a member of this committee, and supported the recommendation, and you now have the power to implement it?
(2) If no to (1), why not?

On 14 November 2008, I provided to Parliament the Department of Education and Training response ('Response') to Report 12 : Balga Works Program ('Report') of the Standing Committee on Estimates and Financial Operations ('Committee'). The Response was tabled on 25 November 2008, Tabled Paper 345.
On 5 March 2009 and 30 March 2009, the Director General of Education and Training and other officers of the Department appeared before the Committee to answer questions about the Response ('Hearings'). The Hearings were recorded by Hansard and a transcript of the Hearings is available on the Parliamentary Website for the Committee under Miscellaneous Proceedings ('Transcripts').
The Tabled Paper and Transcripts address the Member's questions.
