(a) Dieback Consultative Council The Council was formed by the then Minister for the Environment in late 1997 in response to Recommendation 24 of the Western Australian Dieback Review Panel (1996). Council membership encompasses a broad range of dieback management and research expertise. It includes representatives of key industry and other interest groups concerned with the management of disease caused by the soil-borne plant pathogen Phytophthora cinnamomi , or with an interest in conservation, continuing access to Crown land or the operational constraints that may be applied upon those who wish to go upon the land. There is a particular focus on those lands vested in the Conservation Commission of Western Australia and managed by the Department of Conservation and Land Management. The primary function of the Council is to provide advice to the Minister for the Environment and Heritage in relation to Phytophthora root-rot disease in Western Australia. The Council was formed by the then Minister for the Environment in late 1997 in response to Recommendation 24 of the Western Australian Dieback Review Panel (1996).
