Minister for Climate Action:
I refer to the community engagement
strategy for the proposed south coast marine park published on the Department
for Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions website.
(1) Can the
minister please specify the formal agreements that were put in place between
the DBCA and the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, as
referenced on page 6 of the strategy?
(2) What was the term of these
agreements?
(3) Have any of these agreements
been terminated; and, if so, why?

some notice of the question. I provide the following response on behalf of the
Minister for Climate Action.
(1) Arrangements
in place between DBCA and DPIRD include, recognition of the legislative
responsibilities of both departments under
their respective acts; collaboration on the development of marine reserve
planning parameters; a commitment to genuine key stakeholder engagement,
including the fishing and related industries sectors through the marine reserve
planning process; a commitment to engage with traditional owners; and a commitment
to consistency in messaging and the management of critical issues.
(2) These
arrangements have no end date; however, they provide for review two years after
commencement, which is due in August 2023.
(3) No.
