297. Ms McHALE to the Minister for Energy:
I refer to the answer to question on notice No. 2415 of 2000 and ask -
(a) is the Minister aware that in the Quarterly Consultants reports from January 1996 to July 1999, the following payments to Skea, Nelson and Hager are listed;
(i) $85,829 for the period July to December 1997;
(ii) $44,428 for the period January to July 1998;
(iii) $62,458 from August 1998 to July 1999,
(b) will the Minister confirm that the above list represents the complete list of contracts with Skea, Nelson and Hager;
(c) if not, what other projects has Skea, Nelson and Hager been contracted to undertake;
(d) what projects were undertaken for the above amounts;
(e) were the above projects subject to the public tender process;
(f) if so, on what dates were the tenders advertised;
(g) if not, why not?

OFFICE OF ENERGY
(a) Yes. In respect of (iii) AlintaGas has advised that this should be $70,031. This is different to that reported in the "Report on Consultants Engaged by Government" ("Report") prepared in relation to the 1998/99 financial year. I am advised that the difference in the reported payments is due to difficulties experienced by AlintaGas staff when extracting information for the "Report" from a new financial information system implemented during that period.
(b)&(c) The list represents work done under contract to AlintaGas. As Minister for Energy I am unable to provide advice in respect of any other projects performed by Skea, Nelson and Hager for other government bodies or elsewhere outside my portfolio area.
(d)-(g) I refer the Member to the extent of information which the Government provides in the "Report".

(a-g) Western Power Consultants Reports for these dates do not include any payments for Skea, Nelson and Hagar.
