PARTY BOATING INSURANCE SCHEME
657. Hon KEN TRAVERS to the minister representing the
Minister for Transport:
(1) Can the
minister confirm that he has received the report into a compulsory third party
boating insurance scheme?
(2) When does the minister expect the government will make a
decision on this matter?
(3) Does the
minister expect to consult any stakeholders regarding the introduction of an
insurance scheme?
(4) Will the
minister make a copy of the report public once the government has completed its
deliberations on it?

answer relates to 13 September. The Department of Transport advises —
(1)–(4)
The government is deferring further consideration of the introduction of
compulsory third party boat insurance pending further detail of the proposed
national injury insurance scheme, which may benefit people who sustain injuries
from boating accidents.
